Some ideas for what to do when you want to understand more about a marginalized experience you do not share:
🌺 Read books, articles and content written by members of the marginalized group
🌺 Do a google search - there are lots of thoughtful guides for being a better ally / co-conspirator (prioritize those written by members of the marginalized group)
🌺 Seek out organizers of marginalized groups and follow their social accounts. Be present to learn, but not to take up space
🌺 Take time to process your feelings and appropriately notice areas where you have privilege, and where you can work on your own biases

💕 Do not, however, speak over the voices of the marginalized group to educate others on that group experience. Instead always direct back to the organizers from which you are learning

The purchase of this digital download does not transfer or imply any commercial license or rights to reproduce this image for any large-scale, and/or commercial venture. Illegal reproduction of this artwork, such as falsely claiming ownership of the work, conducting sales activities with the work, or any other activities not for personal use, will result in legal action.  (Why do I have this big scary paragraph here? Because unfortunately there are lots of people who who regularly steal artwork and then turn around and sell it on scammy sites -and sometime legit sites, too - and it's increasingly difficult to track them down and get the work removed. Personal purposes may include teachers utilizing this work for classroom materials, so long as my copyright is retained in the image. The key takeaway here is: Don't sell my artwork, and if you use it for personal purposes, just make sure it's clear it's mine. If you have any questions, just email me directly at calliegarp @ gmail.com Thanks!)
