I Never Painted Dreams I Painted My Own Reality, Frida Kahlo: Feminist Print
Every flower in this Frida Kahlo illustration is native to Mexico.
🌻Laelia Orchid
🌻 Tithonia
🌻 Pineapple Sage
🌻 Mexican Honeysuckle
🌻 Morning glory
🌻 Chocolate cosmos
Did you know chocolate cosmos actually smell like chocolate? I have grown tithonia, morning glories & pineapple sage in my own garden, and I like to imagine Kahlo tending them in her garden at Casa Azul.
Frida Kahlo was a talented Mexican artist, a bisexual (& sex-positive) woman, proud communist & anti capitalist, who made work about her life & her pain. At 18, Kahlo was seriously injured in a bus accident, causing significant life long pain, and resulting in 32 surgeries. She is known for her self portraits, her passion & her significant impact on art the world over.
