I still need the reminder that although my brain often goes to worst-case-scenario angst, these thoughts are *not* facts. The person who doesn't text me back immediately isn't mad at me, the people I love haven't gotten into a car accident, I'm not going to perish from being an utter failure of a person. This is my anxiety and my trauma speaking. One way I have found to counteract all this negative spiraling is to ask myself, "What is the best thing that could happen?" Because this best thing is equally if not more likely true. And if that's the case, why not spend more mental energy imagining that best possible outcome?
