Last weekend, my partner and I spent several cozy hours together, organizing, tidying and decorating our home. I fashioned garlands out of faux leaves and stems we'd picked up at a craft store, and wrapped them with twinkling lights. Even as our home felt more lovely and warm by the passing moment, I felt ...anxious. Here I was, spending all this time on a project that had nothing to do with "work". I wasn't doing a single thing to generate income. I was just enjoying a seasonal craft, listening to music and chatting with my partner. All the while, waiting for *something* bad to happen, because clearly I was having just a little too much fun.
This is not what I want for myself, or for anyone else. As my therapist reminds me, consciously choosing to do the things that bring you joy, is so important. And every time that I do that, and nothing bad happens, I am slowly re-learning that I get to have a lovely, joyful life simply because I am a person and I am worthy of it. And so are you, friend. Let's work on this together and share our journeys towards self love and fulfillment.
