I know I am not alone is saying that the onslaught of attacks against human rights and everything I believe in on a daily, sometimes hourly, basis, has been overwhelming me since January. I have moments of real fear, even panic, as it seems like all the boundaries are dissolving. The thing that keeps me calm, that builds a seed of hope for me, is the knowledge I keep coming back to every time I feel this way: We will survive this together. We, in community with one another, take care of one another, keep one another safe, we craft and cultivate joy with one another.
And that means, friends, resisting overwhelm, resisting fascism, means resisting isolation. I'm taking lots of deep breaths, and reaching out for the tools and skills as my disposal.
