I want to grow more empathetic thoughts.⁠
There are three kinds of empathy:⁠
✨Cognitive (to intellectually know another person's situation)⁠
✨Emotional (to know another person's situation and to reflect upon a similar situation you have experienced & how that made you feel)⁠
✨Compassionate (to know someone's situation, to intuit how it might feel to be in that situation and to use that knowledge and feeling to take action). ⁠

Compassionate empathy requires going beyond our own feelings, though, because we can assume the other person feels the way we have felt, when perhaps they don't at all. Well-meaning, empathizing people can still cause harm. (Like Hermione's attempt at freeing house elves; she never asks them how they feel, or what they need).⁠
