There's something powerful and centering about drinking a mug of tea, for me at least. I guess I built a ritual around it, stemming from a very early childhood memory. Late in the evening, my mom would be reading a book with my brother, and I would wander out into the living room with my dad. He always had a small mug of tea before bed, and he would make me one. I'd drink my tea with him, and I just remember it being quiet and calm. Then I'd say goodnight and go to read a book in bed before falling asleep. Throughout my entire life, that's a feeling I've been recreating for myself. Calm, quiet mindfulness and a mug of warm, soothing tea.
This kind of practice gives me the focus to be the crafty b*tch who runs her own business *and* navigates the world with c-ptsd. I wanna recognize and celebrate that.
