Linda Nochlin: Feminist Print

“In 1970, there was no such thing as feminist art history: like all forms of historical discourse, it had to be constructed.” Art historian Linda Nochlin (born in 1931) is the first person in the Fabulously Feminist "Feminist Hero" series. Nochlin wrote the article “Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists?” in 1971 and like other trailblazing texts, hers was the shot heard round the world, triggering a discussion of women’s roles in the art world. When I think of my first feminist art history class, I think of her name. Learn more about the series here: http://fabulouslyfeminist.com/thank-you-for-being-a-feminist-hero/
